Who is this guy?
Well... Let me tell you! My name is Ruben and I'm originally from Belgium. I graduated as an engineer in computer science after which I started working as a data engineer at a Belgian research institute. I quickly fell in love with the academic world, which led to the decision of leaving my job to pursue a PhD, which I recently (May 2024) started :).
Professionally I am interested in all things related to technology, and more specifically linked data, the semantic web and AI. These are also the research topics of my PhD. I don't have any academic publications (yet!) but if that should change, you will be able to find them here. In my free time I love to play competitive games, such as League of Legends, Valorant, Hearthstone, ... but also games in the real world like chess and padel.
My competitive nature often leaves me wondering where (and how) to improve. Not only in the context of games, but generally in life. Through this quest for self-improvement, I've garnered some additional interests in psychology, filosophy, finance and more. On this website, I will share experiences and insights I've gathered throughout my journey, that will hopefully help others as well.
